I always read a meaty Judith Shulevitz NY Times piece first when I see it. It’s a stop-drop- and roll! kinda thing. So this Sunday morning started with purpose.
Since I finished reading How To Raise An Adult by Julie Lythcott-Haims about a week ago, it has been hard not to think about it. It’s a parenting book and I am well, constantly parenting. It’s a difficult thing to get away from when you have your two young children under your roof. Not that I would want to.
The book’s ending was powerful for me. There was a let it go theme.
I have found that since I am constantly thinking about myself as a parent, I am constantly thinking about others as they parent and how my kids and I interact with them. So when I read this I decided then and there to stop doing that. I don’t care how someone else parents. Yay!
I love a liberating epiphany!
The let it go epiphanies are the best.
And then I heard about Orlando and so who the fuck cares?!
